First Officer

Though the Lord-Captains power is absolute, his time and energy are infinite. Someone must stand at his right hand, acting as his voice and serving as an instrument of his will. The First Officer speaks and acts with the full authority of his Lord-Captain, ever prepared to assume the mantle of leadership should his Lord become indisposed.

Careers: Any but the Astropath Transcendent.

Immediate subordinates: ALL senior bridge officers, deck foremen, Mechanicus Emmissariat.

Required skills:

Command: The First Officers presence must inspire no less loyalty and obedience than his Lord-Captain's.

Secret Tongue (Rogue Trader): Mastery of the fleet patois is necessary if one is to communicate fully with subordinates.

Intimidation: One who inspires fear inspires loyalty.

Benefits

The First Officer treats Command as a trained basic skill when dealing with his crew. If a first officer possesses the Command skill, he receives +5 on all command tests made aboard the ship.

Orbest Dray



This ancient individual was once a ships First officer aboard your current Rogue Traders fathers fleet. He served aboard the Emperor's Testament a vessel belonging to Vos Karlorn a long serving captain in House Atreides. During one terrible expedition with Mihails true father Lord-Captain Barbossa they were caught in a violent warp storm and blown far off course and separated from the fleet.  Lost and separated from the fleet Vos Karlorn ordered the ship back to Port Wander, months passed and there was no sign of Lord Captain Barbossa, so Karlorn vowed to return to the Expanse and find him. Orbest dray was left at Port Wander in case the Rogue Trader returned but Karlorn never returned and neither did the Rogue Trader.

Orbest Dray waited for 100 years for signs of the return of House Atreides and finally the Mihail Atreides appeared, Orbest Dray instantly recognised him as a scion of Barbossa and informed Mihail of this. Now time has worn away his good nature and he has grown bitter and angry at being left to grow old while his lord and ship mates met glorious ends in the void. He will however do his duty and his oath of obedience is all he has left. With the Rogue Trader Mihail recognising the service and fealty of Orbest Dray and awarding him the status of First officer aboard the flag ship of a now some what dwindling Rogue Trader House, Orbest feels he now has new purpose and is determined to find out what happened to the House Atredies fleet so long ago.
